Foster Me!
We were called to rescue this sweet little girl after she was orphaned because of human-elephant conflict. Her personality was a little different from other babies we’ve rescued. It almost always takes at least a few days (or sometimes weeks) for a newcomer to become calm and accepting of us. At first, they don’t know that we’re here to help them. It’s something they gradually learn as the handlers love and care for them, and the other elephants send the message that they are now in a good and safe place.

Tsu Tsu, on the other hand, became attached to her handler right away. As long as he was sitting in her enclosure, she was calm as could be. Walk out of there, though, and she’d charge at the poles of her boma. She didn’t seem to want him to leave her.
Now that Tsu Tsu is out with the other elephants, she is one of the first to run to her bottle. Unlike most, she never suffered any weight loss from the stress of being orphaned. She knew from the very first day that her new home was a place where she would be loved and cared for around the clock. And those fabulous bottles of milk and formula—oh how she loves them too.
